The SANREM CRSP received an award from USAID/EGAT in 2007 (Associate Cooperative Agreement Na.EPP-A-OO-06-00004-00) to conduct a study of payments for ecosystem services (PES) programs in developing countries in collaboration with the BASIS CRSP and to develop and deliver PES training materials and programs to USAID personnel.
Researchers participating in the PES Associate Award included:

- Marjorie Huang of Winrock International
- Sven Wunder of CIFOR
- Theo Dillaha of Virginia Tech
Key BASIS scientists included John Kerr and Rohit Jindal of Michigan State University, and Michael Carter of the University of Wisconsin.
The USAID AOTR for this project was Michael Colby, USAID/ EGAT/NRM.
